British 800m runner Lynsey Sharp has qualified for the semi-finals of the 800m by finishing second in her heat this morning.
Kenyan runner Pamela Jelimo, the 2008 gold medallist, won the heat in 2:00.54, with Sharp coming home a close second in 2:01.54.
Speaking to BBC Sport afterwards, Sharp, 22, said that she had tried to get used to the atmosphere of the Olympic Stadium but added: "I don't think anything can prepare you for when you're actually on the track."
The semi-finals take place tomorrow evening, with the final one of the events of the last day of competition on Saturday night.
