Great Britain's javelin thrower Goldie Sayers has revealed that she must undergo two operations to correct an ongoing elbow problem.
The 30-year-old originally suffered the injury during the Olympic Games in London last year.
However, despite making an attempt to return to training, it has been decided that the Newmarket-born athlete should go under the surgeon's knife.
"Bad news: due to unforeseen circumstances out of my control, I have just had a 2nd elbow op with a 3rd to come when this has settled," she wrote on Twitter.
"Needless to say I'm gutted and incredibly frustrated. Good news: it makes me more determined than ever to make this comeback v special."
Sayers finished fourth at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
