Great Britain's Callum Hawkins produced one of the performances of his life to finish inside the top 10 of the men's marathon at the Olympic Games.
The 24-year-old, still at the early stages of his career, claimed a surprise ninth-place finish at the end of a damp race in Rio de Janeiro.
Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya took gold in a time of 2.08:44, ahead of Ethiopia's Feyisa Lilesa (+02.20) and American athlete Galen Rupp (+02.31).
Kipchoge collapsed to the floor after securing victory in a race that he largely dominated, but Britain's Hawkins was just as pleased as he timed his charge to perfection to record a solid finish.
