Great Britain's Rabah Yousif: 'It is time for me to deliver'

Great Britain's Rabah Yousif calls on himself to produce his best form at the World Athletics Championships to reach the final of the 400m.

Rabah Yousif has declared that he is ready to deliver at the World Athletics Championships after qualifying for the semi-finals of the 400m.

The 28-year-old is competing for Great Britain for the first time at the Championships after previously representing Sudan.

Yousif has called on himself to step up, after winning his heat in a time of 45.24s, to reach the final at a major competition for the first time in his career.

He told BBC Sport: "I'm ready to go, I'm excited. It's my third World Championships and fourth major championships and I've been there and there abouts so many times, it's time for me to step up and make that final.

"I was a bit nervous because I saw [Martyn] Rooney running very quickly and I thought this is going to be a tough job, but I've got a lot of confidence because I've been working really hard."

Great Britain captain Rooney broke his personal best to reach the semi-finals, which take place on Monday.
