Allyson Felix won the gold medal in the women's 200m at the Olympic Games this evening.
The 26-year-old American, who won silver in the same event four years ago, got out of the blocks well and by the time she had completed the bend, she was at the front of the field.
The Jamaican pairing of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Veronica Campbell-Brown put pressure on Felix down the home straight, but the American held off the challenge to cross the line first in a time of 21.88s.
Fraser-Pryce eventually took silver, while Camerlita Jeter of the United States burst through late to claim the bronze ahead of Campbell-Brown.
