The Detroit Pistons feel the Heat in Miami as the Indiana Pacers continue hot form against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Philadelphia 76ers climbed to fourth in the NBA Eastern Conference after beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 98-97 at the Wells Fargo Center.

The home win almost did not happen; the visitors were leading deep into the fourth quarter and the home fans were booing the 76ers.

But the Cavs were scoreless in the final 3.34 as Kevin Love saw his three-point attempt bounce off the rim, with Joel Embiid going up the other end and dunk the match-winning basket.

For the Cavaliers, the loss prevented their first three-win streak in 18 months.

The Indiana Pacers won their fourth straight game in domineering fashion, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 111-85.

TJ Warren, in particular, was in fine form and scored 11 of his 23 points in the third quarter.

He was not alone, though. Malcolm Brogdon got 20 points, six rebounds and five assists, and Domantas Sabonis got 18 points and 16 rebounds.

After a poor start to the season, the Pacers have now won seven of their past eight, including four straight and are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference.

The Miami Heat had just 10 fit players available for selection against the Detroit Pistons; two of whom were undrafted rookies and two more were undrafted players in their second seasons.

But it made little difference when Jimmy Butler and Goran Dragic – both All-Star players – combined for 18 assists as the Heat won 117-108 against the Pistons.

Twenty of the homes side's points came from Butler, 18 from Dragic and rookie point guard Kendrick Nunn scored 20.

The win moves the Heat up to second place in the Eastern table, while the Pistons drop to 12th.

The Chicago Bulls beat the New York Knicks 120-102, the Los Angeles Lakers won 123-115 at the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets lost 125-121 at home to the Atlanta Hawks.

The Utah Jazz defeated the Brooklyn Nets 119-114 at the Vivint Smart Home Arena and the Sacramento Kings won 107-99 at home against the Portland Trail Blazers.
