Cleveland Cavaliers beat Atlanta Hawks in overtime

The Cleveland Cavaliers close in on a place in the NBA Finals with a win in overtime against the Atlanta Hawks.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have left themselves needing just one more win to reach the NBA Finals after beating the Atlanta Hawks 114-111 after overtime in game three of the Eastern Conference finals.

LeBron James struggled early on in the contest, missing his first 10 shots of the game to allow Atlanta to race into a seven-point lead early in the first quarter.

James started to find the basket before half time though, leaving the home side just a point adrift heading into the break.

The Hawks had to play the second half without starting center Al Horford after he was ejected for elbowing Matthew Dellavedova in the head.

JR Smith and Tristan Thompson put Cleveland 10 points ahead early in the fourth as the hosts pushed for the win, but Kent Bazemore led the Atlanta fightback, ensuring that the sides finished level.

Jeff Teague tried to give the Hawks the advantage, but James made two late baskets to edge the Cavaliers to the win.

Cleveland will be able to secure their place in the finals when the teams meet again on Tuesday.
