The Denver Nuggets have reportedly held talks with Portland Trail Blazers assistant David Vanterpool over their vacant head coach position.
The 42-year-old is said to be one of a number of contenders for the post, but is not yet a frontrunner to replace Brian Shaw, according to Yahoo! Sports.
As a player, Vanterpool played just one season of NBA basketball with the Washington Wizards, but he has impressed in his three seasons as an assistant in Portland.
He previously interviewed for the Philadelphia 76ers head coach role in 2013.
Interim coach Melvin Hunt is said to still be a strong candidate for the Denver job, while Mike Malone and Mike D'Antoni are also thought to be in the running.
