Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers is reportedly planning on benching veteran Paul Pierce this season.
Pierce has come off the bench in 10 of his 1,408 NBA games including the playoffs, and is not considered a sixth man option.
However, Rivers is aware of the 38-year-old's condition at this late stage of his career and could change his role, according to the Orange County Register.
It is reported that Wesley Johnson would start for the Clippers in the forward position, with Pierce joining Lance Stephenson on the bench.
