The Memphis Grizzlies have announced that Marc Gasol sustained a grade two medial collateral ligament sprain that will keep him off the court indefinitely.
The reigning NBA defensive player of the year will not need surgery, but it is too soon to say how long the injury will keep him out for.
The center picked up the injury in the second quarter of the team's loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Friday.
Kosta Koufos is expected to fill in for the Grizzlies in Gasol's absence.
