NBPA: 'Game conditions were unacceptable'

The acting executive director of the National Basketball Players Association has said that the conditions during the opening game of the NBA Finals were "unacceptable".

The air conditioning malfunctioned ahead of tipoff at the AT&T Center, forcing the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat to play in hot conditions.

Ron Klempner told Bloomberg: "The playing conditions for tonight's game were completely unacceptable from the opening tip.

"In a situation like this, there needs to be more open communication before a decision is made that could potentially place players at risk."

The Spurs have confirmed that they have had their system fixed in preparation for the second game of the series, which takes place tomorrow.
