The Sacramento Kings came from behind to clinch an overtime win over the Miami Heat in the NBA.

The defending champions had been 10 points clear at half time, but DeMarcus Cousins led the comeback to take the game into overtime.

LeBron James, who had picked up a mild groin strain earlier in the meeting, tried to being the Heat back from eight points down in the final minute of the additional spell, but the visitors ran out of time.

The Oklahoma City Thunder's strong form continued as they secured a narrow win over the Charlotte Bobcats.

With Russell Westbrook out with a knee injury, Kevin Durant led the team with 34 points, while Serge Ibaka and Kendrick Perkins also contributed.

The Utah Jazz claimed victory over the Los Angeles Lakers with just 2.1 seconds to spare.

The teams had been close throughout, but Derrick Favors added a game-winning dunk in the final moments to leave the Lakers with four losses in a row.

Backup Nets point guard Shaun Livingston stepped up against the side with the worst record in the NBA to score 20 points.

The Golden State Warriors made it four wins in a row by thrashing the Phoenix Suns by 29 points.

Klay Thompson led the scoring with 21 points, while Stephen Curry had career highs in assists and rebounds to help the home side match their longest winning streak of the season.

The Washington Wizards suffered their biggest defeat of the season against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The visitors kept up in the first quarter, but Kevin Love, who finished the game with 23 points, helped the Timberwolves pull away in the second on their way to a 22-point win.

A strong start by the New Orleans Pelicans helped the team inflict a fifth straight defeat on the Denver Nuggets.

The home side were 11 points ahead after the first quarter and continued to increase their lead throughout, with Tyreke Evans leading the way with 19 points.
