Sam Presti uncertain of Russell Westbrook return

Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti says that he does not know whether point guard Russell Westbrook will be ready for the start of the season.

Sam Presti has said that he does not know whether Russell Westbrook will be ready for the start of the 2013-14 NBA season.

The Oklahoma City Thunder point guard underwent surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee after sustaining an injury during the playoffs in April.

The general manager told ESPN: "I wouldn't say that he will be [ready] and I wouldn't say that he won't be. We've got to see how the next month goes.

"He's on pace, to this point, in the recovery process, but we're not going to put a specific timetable on his return, simply because it's just too big of a decision. His health is most important, not just for this season, but for many years to come.

"He's done an excellent job in showing unbelievable discipline and rigor through the process. We expect him to come back at full strength, but he's got to finish the rest of the benchmarks."

The 24-year-old averaged 23.2 points per game last season.
