Victor Oladipo has said that he is not focusing on the hype ahead of his rookie season in the NBA.

The shooting guard was selected by the Orlando Magic with the second overall pick in this year's Draft and has been tipped as an early favourite for the rookie of the year award.

The 21-year-old told the team's official website: "I don't really pay attention to that [hype] because all of my life I've been overlooked. It's nice for people to say nice things now, but if things go bad they will say bad things.

"It's all good to me and I don't pay attention to all of the other stuff. I'm just looking forward to playing and helping this team win.

"I felt like I could come here and have a great opportunity to help the team win at a high level. Sometimes you've just got to go with your gut and what your heart tells you. It just feels like this is the right place for me."
