Michael Carter-Williams: 'I need to be a leader out on the court'

Philadelphia 76ers forward Michael Carter-Williams reveals that he'll need to step up on the court to act as a leader when the new NBA season gets underway in October.

Philadelphia 76ers forward Michael Carter-Williams has admitted that he'll have to step up as a leader should Thaddeus Young leave the franchise.

Young has long been touted as being part of a proposed trade involving Kevin Love, which would leave Carter-Williams and Jason Richardson as the team's experienced voices.

"Definitely," said Carter-Williams, when asked by The Intelligencer about his leadership role.

"I think regardless who is on the team, I have to be a leader out there, give direction to the new guys and really bring the team together."

The new NBA season is due to get underway on October 28.
