LaMarcus Aldridge, Nicolas Batum injured in Portland Trail Blazers

Portland Trail Blazers center LaMarcus Aldridge and forward Nicolas Batum both pick up injuries in the team's defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies.

LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum both left the Portland Trail Blazers' defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies early after sustaining injuries.

The center tried to play through his injury after landing awkwardly in the first quarter, but had to sit out the second half, while Batum had pain in his lower back after also taking a tumble in the first quarter.

Aldridge, who already has a sprained thumb, told ESPN: "I already had my thumb messed up, so not being able to use my hand was just too much. They said it wasn't broken, so that's good.

"I'm going to take my time, try to let it go away. I had prior issues and I don't want to come back and not be able to use my left hand at all. I'm not going to rush it.

"It's been a nightmare. I've been here nine years and I've seen things like this happen through the course of my years here in Portland. It's part of the sport. [It is] a bad time for us, because it is a time when you want to be peaking and playing your best basketball."

The Trail Blazers have lost their last four games, which is their longest stretch without a win this season.
