Miami Heat recover from 27 points down in the third quarter to avoid a major upset against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Miami Heat have extended their NBA winning streak to 24 games after recovering from a 27-point deficit to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 98-95 in Ohio last night.

The Heat are now nine games from equalling the Los Angeles Lakers winning record of 33 games from the 1971-72 season, having recently overtaken Houston Rockets' run of 22 matches.

Reigning MVP LeBron James scored 25 points against his former team to help the Heat recover from a huge score difference in the third quarter and avoid a massive upset.

Chris Bosh, Shane Battier and Dwayne Wade each racked 11 points, while Mario Chalmers scored 17 off eight shots. Wayne Ellington topscored for Cleveland with 20.

Miami face the Detroit Pistons on Friday.
