Alec Burks signs Utah Jazz extension

Guard Alec Burks signs a new four-year deal with the Utah Jazz ahead of the deadline at midnight on Friday.

Utah Jazz guard Alec Burks has signed a new four-year deal with the franchise worth $42m (£26m) ahead of the midnight deadline on Friday.

Burks averaged 14.5 points per game last season and he is averaging 16.5 points over the Jazz's first two games of the new season.

It is understood that his new deal also includes additional incentives that could make the contract worth up to $45m (£28m), according to ESPN.

Burks is the third star to be offered a new deal by the Jazz, with both Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors recently signing new deals.

However, forward Enes Kanter has yet to sign a contract extension and it is reportedly likely that the two parties will table talks until the summer.
