Team England boxer Anthony Fowler has claimed that he was "in second gear" during his impressive victory over Kyriakos Spanos at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday.
Middleweight Fowler dispatched his Cypriot opponent in confident fashion to book a bout with Scotland's Kieran Smith, with that clash due to take place on Monday.
"I'm not being big-headed, but that was me in second gear. I had a few more gears in me, but the lad didn't want to engage much," Fowler told Sports Mole
"He was looking to hold and get of a lot of breathers, but I just kept my control and I knew I was ahead in the points so why force things, I have four more fights so I saved some in the tank.
"I could have done another three rounds. I knew I had a lot more in me and I am ready to go again now."
Fowler also oozed confidence when he was asked if he was ready to claim gold this summer.
"Ready for the gold, that is the target," Fowler added.
Fowler's victory capped what has been an impressive start to the boxing from Team England.
