Mike Alvarado has taken revenge with a unanimous points decision over Brandon Rios in their rematch this morning.
The two light-welterweights went toe-to-toe for a second time following Rios's stoppage win in October last year.
The 32-year-old came through the close fight 115-113 on two scorecards and 114-113 on the other. He has revealed that he will offer Rios a third fight.
"Brandon gave me a shot to redeem myself," said Alvarado. "I'll give him a shot for the trilogy."
After a frantic opening few rounds, the 32-year-old started to box and move, working behind his jab as Rios chased him around the ring.
Alvarado overcame a cut on his forehead to finish strongly, particularly in the final round, and take the victory.
The result means that both men have inflicted the other fighter's only defeat, and Alvarado now holds the interim WBO world title.
