Boxing legend Joe Frazier 'seriously ill'

Joe Frazier is "seriously ill", according to the boxer's personal and business manager Leslie Wollf.

Boxing legend Joe Frazier is in hospice care receiving treatment for liver cancer, according to Sky Sports News.

Leslie Wollf, the personal and business manager of the former World Heavyweight champion, earlier told how he was diagnosed with the disease a month ago, describing the situation as "serious".

"Smokin Joe" was famous for his lengthy rivalry with Muhammed Ali, with whom he had a trilogy of fights in the 1970s.

The 67-year-old became the first man to beat Ali but then went on to lose his next two fights with "The Greatest", including the "Thrilla in Manilla" bout in 1975.

In an era remembered for great heavyweight fighters, Frazier also fought George Foreman twice, although lost on both occasions.

The Philadelphia-born slugger finally retired in 1981 with a record of 32-4, his last bout ending in a draw.
