Talks between Carl Froch and Gennady Golovkin regarding a potential super-middleweight fight have reached an impasse, according to the Kazakh boxer's promoter Tom Loeffler.
Loeffler, who represents K2 Promotions, had opened discussions with Froch's promoter Eddie Hearn as Golovkin is prepared to move up a division to make the fight happen.
However, it is understood that Froch, who has not fought in the ring in 13 months, is considering retirement.
Loeffler told ESPN: "Eddie says that Froch hasn't decided yet if he is going to fight or not, so I am checking all other options to see what is the best one for GGG. Hopefully, we should have something more firm in the next couple of weeks."
Golovkin is unbeaten in 33 bouts, 30 of which resulted in knockouts.
