James DeGale to face Marco Antonio Periban in November

British super-middleweight James DeGale will face former world title challenger Marco Antonio Periban at Liverpool's Echo Arena on November 22.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has announced that British super-middleweight James DeGale will face Marco Antonio Periban in Liverpool on November 22.

DeGale is the mandatory challenger to Carl Froch's IBF title, but with the 37-year-old still contemplating his future, the Londoner has been included on the undercard of the rematch between Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew.

The Londoner, who stopped Brandon Gonzales at Wembley Stadium in his last fight, will lose his mandatory status should be lose to Periban, who has twice lost decisions in world title bouts in the past 16 months, but he will be confident of gaining some momentum ahead of a shot at the IBF crown in the early part of 2015.

If Froch decides not to face DeGale, he will be forced to vacate the belt, leaving DeGale to potentially fight for the strap at London's O2 Arena on January 31.
