Carl Froch: 'George Groves rematch not my decision'

Carl Froch says that he will speak to Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn before agreeing to an IBF and WBA super middleweight rematch against George Groves.

IBF and WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch has said that he would be open to a rematch with George Groves, but stressed that it is 'not his decision'.

The 36-year-old stopped the Londoner in the ninth round of last night's championship bout in Manchester, although there is controversy as many feel that referee Howard Foster was quick to call an end to proceedings.

"The rematch is something everyone wants to see," EuroSport quotes the 'Cobra' as saying. "If George really, really wants the rematch, which it sounds like he does, and the fans want it, then why not?

"We've got to speak to Eddie Hearn, he's the businessman in this, he's the man who makes these fights happen. It's not my decision to see exactly where I go. But as I've said time and time again, I will fight anybody.

"It's not a question of whether or not I'll fight George Groves again - of course I will. No problem at all. It's just whatever makes sense, not just for me, but for my team around me."

Groves was ahead on all three of the judges' scorecards at the time of the stoppage.
