British welterweight Amir Khan will face former IBF champion Devon Alexander in Las Vegas on December 13, according to reports.
Khan, who last fought in May when he comfortably outpointed Luis Collazo, had been rumoured to be taking on Robert Guerrero at the Brooklyn Center but it now appears that the 27-year-old will come up against American fighter Alexander.
The pair had initially been scheduled to face each other last December before Khan withdrew in the hope of securing a showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr, but the Olympic silver medallist finds himself in the same situation 12 months later.
Alexander, who lost his world title to Khan's replacement Shawn Porter, returned to the ring in June with a 10-round win over Jesus Soto Karass and his technical skills and southpaw stance should ensure that his meeting with Khan is a competitive one.
