British boxer Amir Khan expects Floyd Mayweather Jnr to be "loyal to his word" following the outcome of an online poll asking fans who the unbeaten US fighter should take on next.
The 36-year-old created the poll asking fans to choose between Khan or Marcos Maidana.
The Bolton-born fighter came out on top with 57% of the vote, which closed on February 9.
After discovering the result, Khan wrote on Twitter: "It would b an honour to share the ring with @FloydMayweather who will be loyal to his word and to the fans, to fight the winner of his poll."
Reports have claimed that the bout could be held in Las Vegas at some point later this year.
