Marcos Maidana has claimed that Floyd Mayweather Jr was "pressured" by the media to take the rematch ahead of their Las Vegas showdown this weekend.
The unbeaten Mayweather overcame the South American via majority decision in May, and the pair will collide once more at the MGM Grand.
However, Maidana believes that his opponent would not have fought him again had it not been for the media.
BoxingScene.com quotes Maidana as saying: "I think Floyd got pressured by the press and I think he knows that first fight was so close so he's giving me the rematch and I have to take full advantage.
"I actually had two full months to prepare for this. I worked very hard and that's probably why I look a little skinnier this time. I think Floyd is going to run and I have to do a good job of cutting off the ring."
Maidana has claimed 31 of his 35 wins via knockout.
