Kiko Martinez: "Carl Frampton is not a good boxer"

Kiko Martinez says that he has come to Belfast to "shut up" Carl Frampton.

EBU super bantamweight champion Kiko Martinez has vowed to silence Carl Frampton when they meet face to face in Belfast tonight.

The pair had to be separated during the weigh-in yesterday as they traded insults on the scales, adding further fuel to their fiery rivalry.

Martinez believes that the Northern Irishman is over-hyped, and he is fully confident of taking his IBF Intercontinental strap.

"I've come here because Frampton was too scared to come to Spain," Sky Sports News quotes Martinez as saying. "I've come here to shut Frampton's mouth once and for all, he's talked too much and I hope that on Saturday he comes to fight and not to run.

"They are trying to sell in Belfast something that doesn't exist - Carl Frampton is not a good boxer. He and his team know that I am a lot stronger than anyone he's met and you should all know that.

"I am not one of the bodies he's had to face. I am properly prepared mentally and physically with a champion's mentality, which is what I am."

Martinez brings a 27-3 record to the contest, while Frampton is unbeaten in 15 bouts.
