Stephen Smith expects dominant display against Jose Pedraza

British super-featherweight Stephen Smith backs himself to dominate IBF champion Jose Pedraza when they meet in Connecticut on Saturday night.

British super-featherweight Stephen Smith has said that his power will be the difference when he faces IBF champion Jose Pedraza on Saturday night.

Smith has travelled to Connecticut to meet unbeaten Pedraza, who is making the second defence of his world title, but the Liverpudlian is confident that he can dominate his opponent as he looks to become the second Smith sibling to win a world crown.

The 30-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I believe he won't stand with me. I have said all along, I believe I punch hard for a super-featherweight and, if I land, he will know he has been hit. I believe I can get rid of anyone.

"It is going to be a bit of a cagey fight at times but I will up the pace and I think he finds the weight hard as well. We will see how the fight unfolds but I am very confident that I will be dominant on the night and I will be a new world champion."

Smith has won 23 of his 24 outings as a professional, while Pedraza has 12 stoppages to his name in 21 matches.
