Promoter Frank Warren has revealed that Carl Froch turned down an offer to fight Nathan Cleverly in less than an hour.
Welshman Cleverly has expressed his desire to fight Froch after the Nottingham boxer's victory over Mikkel Kessler, but Warren has insisted that the 35-year-old is not keen on the bout.
In a column on his official website, Warren said: "Last week, I made Team Froch a written offer of £2.5m to challenge WBO light-heavyweight king 'Clev' at a compromise weight of 12 stone 4lbs.
"Even though Froch's IBF and WBA super-middleweight belts would not be at stake, 'The Cobra' rejected what would undoubtedly have been one of the highest paydays of his career, barely half an hour after the offer was made."
Froch has also been linked with a third match against Kessler or a second clash with unbeaten American Andre Ward.
