Boxing promoter Frank Warren does not believe Amir Khan is ready for a fight with the world's number one pound-for-pound fighter, Floyd Mayweather Junior.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live after Khan's contentious loss to Lamont Peterson, Warren said that it would be a mistake for the Bolton-born fighter to move up a weight class.
"There is talk about him fighting Floyd Mayweather at the moment," he said. "All the hysteria over the weekend about how he can be the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet I think was a bit premature.
"I really do not think he should be going up a weight at the moment to even think about Floyd Mayweather."
Khan lost his WBA and IBF light welterweight titles to Peterson in a controversial split-decision defeat in Washington DC on Saturday night.
