The WBA has continued to remain silent on whether a mega-fight between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko will be sanctioned.
It appeared that the two heavyweights would face off in Manchester on December 10 until Klitschko said he wanted to compete for the WBA 'Super' belt as well as Joshua's IBF crown.
Throughout this week, reports have suggested that the WBA was unlikely to sanction a unification showdown and it appears likely that Klitschko will face Australia's Lucas Browne for the vacant WBA title in Hamburg on the same date.
It had been anticipated that confirmation would come on Thursday but "legal matters" ensured that the saga wrangled on until Friday but with no more news forthcoming, ESPN reporter Dan Rafael revealed that an update could come over the weekend.
The decision by the WBA will have implications for a number of fighters, with Joshua unable to confirm his opponent for the second weekend in December until Klitschko has made his next move.
If Klitschko looks elsewhere, Joshua is likely to face either Kubrat Pulev, Eric Molina or David Price.
