David Price continues comeback with stoppage win

British heavyweight David Price records a sixth-round stoppage victory over Irineu Beato Costa Jr in Berlin.

British heavyweight David Price continued his comeback from successive defeats to Tony Thompson with a stoppage win over Irineu Beato Costa Jr this evening.

Price had been forced to go back to the drawing board after two setbacks against the American, but the former Olympic bronze medallist showed signs against Costa that he is regaining more confidence in his ability.

The opening rounds were one paced as Price looked to operate behind a left jab, but, as the fight wore on, he began to open up a defensive-minded opponent.

A points win seemed a realistic possibility, but Price dropped Costa with a combination in the sixth before sending the Brazilian down twice more in quick succession to prompt his corner to throw in the towel.

The victory sees Price extend his professional record to 19 wins from 21 outings.
