AIBA has admitted that there have been "a handful of decisions" at the 2016 Olympic Games that were "not at the level expected", which has led to some referees and judges being dropped from the competition.
The standard of the officiating in Rio has been questioned in recent days, and Irish bantamweight Michael Conlan blasted the world amateur governing body after losing to Russia's Vladimir Nikitin in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Conlan, who was regarded as one of the favourites to claim gold in his category, appeared to have the better of Nikitin, but the Irishman was on the wrong end of the judges' scorecards as he bowed out of the competition in controversial circumstances.
"AIBA are just corrupt. They've robbed me of my Olympic dream. Obviously Russia can't dope this time so they are obviously paying the judges a lot more," Conlan told reporters in an emotional interview. "I will never box an AIBA competition again. Not APB, not WSB, not world championships or Olympic Games. Corruption runs deep... I just think they are rotten to the core."
Following Conlan's words, AIBA has seemingly reviewed the standard of officiating this summer and decided that "a handful of decisions were not at the level expected", but there will be no change to the results.
"Less than a handful of the decisions were not at the level expected and consequently it has been decided that the concerned referees and judges will no longer officiate at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. In accordance with AIBA Rules the result of all the bouts will stand," read part of the statement from AIBA.
AIBA was heavily criticised for allowing professionals to compete at the Games in Brazil, while their change of the scoring system and removal of headguards has also been questioned.
