Britain's Joe Joyce wins super-heavyweight gold in Baku

British boxer Joe Joyce claims European Games super-heavyweight gold by beating Russian Federation's Gasan Gimbatov in Baku.

Joe Joyce has defeated Russian Federation's Gasan Gimbatov to be crowed European Games super-heavyweight champion.

The Team GB boxer, who produced a dominant performance against France's Tony Yoka to book his place in the final, prevailed by unanimous points decision.

Joyce came out on top in what was a well-contested final, celebrating his success in the middle of the ring with a joyous backflip.

Gimbatov was given a second chance of Baku glory, replacing injured home favourite Mahammadrasul Majidov in the inaugural competition's concluding match, but he could not match his British opponent across the three rounds.
