Kazakhstan's Serik Sapiyev has overpowered Great Britain's Freddie Evans to claim gold in the Olympic welterweight division.
Both men looked spritely from the opening bell. Sapiyev pumped out his jab, but Evans was catching everything on his gloves.
Evans was being outworked by the Kazakh, who continued on the front foot in the second round. The Brit's defence was decent, but he was not firing back.
Sapiyev held a five-point lead and looked to put the result out of reach, unloading with a barrage of blows that penetrated Evans's tight guard.
The Kazakh was in control and it looked to be a fight too far for Evans, who dropped a 17-9 decision.
