Ed McKeever adjusting to Baku 2015 kayaking conditions

Ed McKeever plays down suggestions that excessive heat could be a problem for kayakers at the European Games.

Olympic champion Ed McKeever has revealed that he is resorting to splashing himself with water to cool down in the heat of Azerbaijan as he prepares for the European Games.

Several kayakers have complained about the heat at the Kur Sport and Rowing Centre in Mingachevir.

However, McKeever has suggested that the water being used in competition can help athletes cool down as they train at compete.

He told reporters: "In the sun it is very warm. But bizarrely the water is very cold because it comes straight from the dam. So if you get too hot, you can always splash yourself."

McKeever won Olympic gold in the K-1 200m event in 2012.
