Chris Rogers hopes for David Warner partnership

Australia batsman Chris Rogers hopes that he can strike a good opening partnership with David Warner.

Australia batsman Chris Rogers has admitted that he is targeting a consistent opening partnership with David Warner for the upcoming Ashes series against England.

With the series starting at the end of November, Rogers said that both he and Warner need to perform in the warm-up games if they are to be selected.

"The fourth Test, when he got 70 and I got 40-odd I think we batted really well then and complemented each other," Rogers told AAP.

"It's up to Dave to get runs in these next few games, as it is up to me and whoever else. It's a tough job opening the batting and you need support from the guy down the other end, so a bit of familiarity is a good thing."

The first Test begins on November 21 at the Gabba in Brisbane.
