Australia name Phil Hughes as 13th man for first Test

Australia honour Phil Hughes by naming him as the 13th man for the first Test of their series against India following his death at the age of 25 last month.

Australia have paid tribute to Phil Hughes by naming him as their 13th man for the first Test of their series against India.

The 25-year-old passed away last month after being struck in the neck by a cricket ball while batting for the West End Redbacks in their Sheffield Shield match against the New South Wales Blues.

The Baggy Greens skipper Michael Clarke was adamant that he wanted the spirit of Hughes to remain with the team, and the players along with Cricket Australia have chosen to honour the batsman by naming him as the 13th man.

The first Test of the series starts in Adelaide on Tuesday.
