Australia's Pat Cummins suffers injury setback

Cricket Australia announce that bowler Pat Cummins has suffered a recurrence of a lower back injury.

Cricket Australia have announced that fast bowler Pat Cummins has suffered a recurrence of a lower back bone stress injury.

The 20-year-old missed out on this summer's Ashes series, but did compete in the A tour in the UK and South Africa, where he suffered the injury blow.

CA chief medical officer Justin Paoloni said: "Pat returned home early from the Australia A tour of Africa with some side/back soreness and scans have shown a partial recurrence of his lower back bone stress injury suffered in October last year when he returned home from Champions League.

"He will be closely monitored to determine his return to the playing field, but expect that he will miss most of the 2013-14 domestic cricket season."

Cummins has played in just one Test for Australia so far in his career.
