Peter Siddle has admitted that it is pleasing to have proven his worth to the side after guiding Australia to a commanding position in the fifth Ashes Test at The Oval.

The seamer, who has taken three wickets in the match after being left out of the first four Tests, has been key for the tourists with his tight lines against the England batsman and he is confident that Michael Clarke's side can force a consolation win at the end of a disappointing series.

"I've been carrying a few drinks which has been disappointing, I would have liked my chance, but I didn't bowl as well as I could in the tour matches. I've been feeling good," Siddle told Sky Sports after England slipped to 203-6 in their second innings.

"Pressure is key - that's what I've been able to build for the team. My plan was to get it going across Alastair Cook, and it was a good battle. The follow-on is always hard, it was a long day today, but Pup asked us what we wanted to do, and he wanted to have a real go at winning this Test match. It gives us a good opportunity at winning this Test match."

Heavy rain is forecast over the next two days, which could prevent Australia from reducing the size of their defeat to 3-2.
