Australia move to top of Test rankings

Captain Steve Smith remains unbeaten at the crease as Australia seal a 2-0 series victory over New Zealand in Christchurch.

Australia have regained their spot as the world's number one Test team.

Steve Smith's men achieved the feat thanks to a seven-wicket victory over New Zealand in Christchurch, which in turn wrapped up a 2-0 series triumph.

Returning on day five requiring 131 runs with nine wickets to spare, the tourists won through with relative ease.

Joe Burns and Usman Khawaja brought up the team's 100 in the 31st over, before they were dismissed for 65 and 45 respectively.

It was left to skipper Smith and Adam Voges (10*) to get the Aussies over the line shortly after the lunch interval, with the former of the two scoring 53 runs from just 46 deliveries to help his side reach 201-3.

Match-clincher Smith is still undefeated from his 11 Tests as captain.
