Andy Flower: 'Matt Prior could be dropped'

England coach Andy Flower reveals that it is a "possibility" that Matt Prior could be dropped for the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

England head coach Andy Flower has hinted that Matt Prior could be dropped for his side's upcoming third Ashes Test against Australia.

The 31-year-old wicketkeeper has been in disappointing form so far in the series Down Under and could be replaced by Jonny Bairstow.

"It's a possibility, of course," The Telegraph quotes him as saying. "Matt Prior has been an outstanding cricketer for England during the second phase of his career - but like with all those positions, we constantly review what our best side will be, what will give us the best chance of winning.

"We have to have an eye to the future as well, so we will meet over the next couple of days and start getting a little clarity on those decisions.

"When we reflect on the way we've prepared and the way we've taken on the opposition in this series, I think honestly we can say we've been outplayed in every facet. So we do have to very quickly look forward to the Melbourne Test."

The fourth Test of the series gets underway on Boxing Day in Melbourne.
