England's senior spinner Monty Panesar has insisted that there is still plenty of hunger within the squad.
The tourists go into the Boxing Day Ashes Test in Melbourne knowing that they cannot retain the urn, having lost the first three Tests Down Under by considerable margins.
However, Panesar has called upon his teammates to "show some fighting character" during the remaining two matches.
"We've still got two Test matches to show our hunger, our determination, and the style of cricket that we want to play," he told reporters.
"Come Boxing Day we obviously want to put in a very good performance and try to show some fighting character. We're hungry and determined in the dressing-room to make the most of these two Test matches."
Following the recent retirement of Graeme Swann, Panesar could be included in the England team for the Melbourne Test.
