England fast bowler Boyd Rankin has limped off with a hamstring injury on the opening day of the fifth Test match with Australia in Sydney.
The 29-year-old suffered the blow two balls into his ninth over shortly before tea, and he was immediately forced to leave the field for treatment.
It remains unclear whether Rankin will be able to continue later in the match, but his withdrawal during Friday's play is a further blow to Alastair Cook's side.
The Warwickshire man, who had earlier been handed his debut Test cap alongside Scott Borthwick and Gary Ballance, failed to pick up a wicket for a cost of 34 runs.
