Bowler Tim Bresnan will travel to Australia with England, despite not being included in the 17-man squad for the winter Ashes.
The 28-year-old has been omitted because he has not yet recovered from a stress fracture to his back.
However, the Yorkshireman will link up with his teammates in November to aid his rehabilitation.
"Tim Bresnan has not been named in the squad and is continuing his recovery from a stress fracture in his back. He will travel to Australia with the squad to maximise his rehab opportunities with the medical team and coaches who will monitor his progress," said national selector Geoff Miller.
Bresnan suffered the problem during this summer's Ashes, which England won 3-0.
