England win final warm-up match

England beat Cricket Australia Invitational XI by seven wickets after dominating the final day of their final warm-up match ahead of The Ashes.

England have defeated Cricket Australia Invitational XI by seven wickets in their final warm-up match ahead of next week's first Ashes Test in Brisbane.

The hosts resumed day four on 153-4 with a lead of 39 runs, but they could only add another 108 runs as Steven Finn and Boyd Rankin's efficiency removed the middle order.

That left England requiring 148 runs to earn a morale-boosting success, and Michael Carberry gave them a superb platform to secure victory with a half-century off 71 balls.

He was soon dismissed, but Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell put on an unbeaten 52-run stand for the fourth wicket to guide their side to a comfortable win.
