Jonny Bairstow to miss India one-day internationals

Bairstow to miss India ODIs

England batsman Jonny Bairstow will not travel to India for January's one-day international series due to a family illness.

Bairstow left the subcontinent on compassionate grounds following the second Test victory over the hosts in Mumbai.

He will be replaced in the England squad by Yorkshire teammate Joe Root, who made his Test debut in the draw that secured England a first series win against India in 28 years.

However, Bairstow is expected to rejoin the squad for the series against New Zealand, which begins late next month.

England will play five one-day matches on the India tour, for which they depart on January 2.
