Ian Bell was named England's Cricketer of the Year for 2013-2014 at a Lord's ceremony on Monday.

The Warwickshire batsman pipped Joe Root and Stuart Broad to the award following his performances during the last English summer, particularly against Australia.

Bell became the first Englishman in 27 years to record hundreds in three consecutive Ashes Tests, and also scored two fifties as England won the series 3-0.

"It is something to be proud of, for sure," Bell told reporters. "There were other outstanding performances throughout the year too, even if the winter didn't go to plan.

"Only Michael Clarke and I passed 1,000 Test runs for the year, so that is an achievement in itself. It is only the second time I've done it in my career."

Captain Charlotte Edwards earned the Women's Cricketer of the Year Award for leading England to back-to-back Ashes victories, while Will Rhodes won the England Development Programme prize.
