Giles Clarke named first president of ECB

The ECB confirms that Giles Clarke will become the first ever president of the governing body in May.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has named Giles Clarke as the first president of the governing body.

Clarke is currently chairman of the ECB, but will begin his new role from May 14 when he is replaced by Colin Graves.

The restructure comes after managing director Paul Downton left his role on Wednesday following a 14-month spell.

Following today's board meeting, the ECB has also confirmed that current chairman of Middlesex Ian Lovett will come in as deputy chairman next month.

Lovett will fill Graves's current role.
